Sony reveals PS5, PS4, PS3, and classic games for PS Plus

A new and improved PlayStation Plus service, coming to PS5 and PS4 consoles next month, was announced by Sony back in March. Today, Sony has released a new look at the games available on the service, including PS5, PS4, PS3, and “classic” titles.

First-party titles like The Last of Us Remastered are already available on the PS5-exclusive PlayStation Plus Collection, but many of these are exclusive to Sony’s PS Plus service. Among the new games announced today are PS5 and PS4 titles, PS3 games that can be streamed, and remastered PS4 titles that Sony refers to as “classic,” as well as older PlayStation and PS Vita titles that have been remastered.

In a blog post, Sony’s vice president of services, global sales, and business operations, Nick Maguire, writes that “we’re focused on adding high-quality titles to the PlayStation Plus service for players to enjoy.” As part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe plans, I’d like to show you a selection of the content that will be available.” When the PlayStation 4 launches in your area, we’ll ensure that the game list on PlayStation.com is up to date.

There will be a selection of classic games available for PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe subscribers, some of which will feature improved frame rates and higher-quality resolutions compared to their original launch versions.” When playing select PlayStation and PSP classic games, members will have access to a new user interface with menus that let you save and rewind your game at any time.

Sony says that those who already own digital copies of games from the original PlayStation and PSP generations will not have to buy them again or sign up for PlayStation Plus to play them on their PS4 or PlayStation 5″ Sony says. If you already own the digital version of these games, you can download the PS4 and PS5 versions from the PlayStation Store at no additional cost. Additionally, some of the titles will be available for sale. The PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe plan will also include some remastered classics from previous console generations.”

According to Maguire, PlayStation 3 games will be playable on PS4, PS5, and PCs via the new PlayStation Plus. Members of PlayStation Plus Premium who have access to cloud streaming can play these “original, non-remastered” PS3 games.
